“A tear from a man: a self-discovery poem.” Written by D.A
A message to any man who’s feelings are invalidated. I see you and I hear you. I hope you can be free of societies narrative.
“A tear from a man is deemed unexpected, society conditions men to be strong and unaffected.
Unaffected by anything, to be as hard as steel, when the greatest strength in a man Is a man who can feel.
As a man who feels empathy, is a man worth being there for. A man who feels empathy is a man you shouldn’t ignore.
A centre to his exterior where empathy follows growth, leading different perspectives that discovers better ways to cope.
Because the reality is our world runs against torture, with suffering inflicted by others, using anger as a reinforcer.
Why is anger expected from men? The generations have stressed, that the best thing for a man to do is feel nothing, to suppress.
Tears stem from pain yet it is considered a fragility, a clear weakness of humanity that causes inner hostility.
But what a man truly needs is no tough exterior, to become a better role model by showing that life is not linear.
It’s not straight forward that we love and we lose, and crying is apart of healing without finding an excuse.
That men are providers and they “don’t cry”, but you’re the one who chooses to “not have the time”.
To release those tears of self soothing oxytocin, that eases physical pain and well-being through endorphins.
So don’t suppress the feelings, pull the trigger to release, stop resisting internal growth, find the desire for inner peace.”
